Night visions

This week's assignment was as challenging to me as last week's, but in a different way, technical, rather than mental. I did stray off the auto setting, and learned a little more about my camera, but still have trouble getting the flash to illuminate properly. Most of my pictures I took without flash, but when I did use it, I discovered it was more of a tool to create questions rather than answers!  How do you like my picture of a black cat sleeping in a dark closet?

  1. Those pictures were very interesting Amy.....I tried hard to see the black cat in the black closet, but I'm going to have to take your word that he was there....lol the picture I liked most was #8, I liked the rails and the light comin through, I really found that to be a great shot....but your pictures of reflections and the use of shadows I really liked also, they were all very creative......I think you did a great job Amy!!!

  2. Amy.....I think your picture of the black cat in the dark closet was fabulous (wink, wink!)
The rails and all of the angles is "pure AMY!" Very nice indeed! I also like the superimposed shot in the window.....and I simply MUST know (from you) what I'm looking at in #7....hmmm, looks like another classic Amy macro shot but I sure don't know what it is.
    Nice job.

    1. #7 is a big, silver box (probably houses the street light maintenance stuff) and it was reflecting the night lights of downtown Clearwater by the bridge- thanks, Lynn.

  3. Amy,
I am crazy about the storefront. That is what I was going to do til I got the flu. All stores at night.
This one has so many things to look at. The mercury vapor light paints the stair and wall the bluish green,-- (crop out that mermaid on the green wall to full frame it looks good alone)--then the awning is dark blue, then above that is no light dark gray to the top of the building, then the door and the neon sign, WOW and every straight edge is on an angle to the other edges. Even the roof is a series of angle panels. It's a crooked little house. What lens are you using. Looks like a super wide angle like 16 or 18mm. Great night shot. In daylight it would have been just a picture of a store.

    1. Thanks, Burr- I use a Sony Cybershot fixed lens camera and this shot was lucky. There was enough light for the camera to be able to focus and the placement of the lights distorted the actual shape of the building into something more interesting than the daylight shot!
