"Alien" Studies and Other A's

It feels good to get back out with a camera and think "photographically", something I would do everyday if  life didn't get in the way...  When I retire, I'm going to do that every day and irritate people with "Hey, let me show you the pictures I took today..."!

My "Alien"-  the Kia Soul comes in Alien green!

This shot was taken in the garage and produced a very muted color.

All my shots were taken with a Sony Cybershot on the automatic setting (still...)

Out of the shadows and into the light

I think of shadows like negative space in art, sometimes just as important as the subject in a painting or photograph.  The trick is to see them and it was not as easy as I thought it would be.  Silhouettes are the subject as shadow, making the shape or outline more important than details.  I had silhouettes made of my children when they were young, as my mother did for my sister and me, and they are among my most prized possessions!

In the red

I have been in the red, lately; a deficit, as far as picture taking goes, but I am trying to catch up and pictures of 'red' are my first, belated post!

What bugs me...

Some things irritate me, but not bugs- there are so many different kinds of insects here in Florida that you kind of get used to them.  When I was young and living in Michigan, I had a recurring and fascinating dream that my closet was full of bugs, spiders and spider webs.  Then we moved to Florida where the dream became reality on only a slightly smaller scale.  I started a bug collection of assorted beetles, roaches, dragonflies and whatever else crossed my path.  Years later, we have bug removal down to an art and science where the wayward insect has a chance to be free outside and become something else's dinner!

black and white and Easter all over

Hope you all had a wonderful, blessed Easter with family.  My family is getting smaller (spreading out) so I did some hangin' with my peeps...  I loved this assignment- I started in black and white years ago with a Nikkormat 35mm and a developing canister with two reels.  I had not done any black and white photography since college, even though my camera takes pictures in grayscale, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality without metering or "developing and printing" myself.  The black and whites were taken at Brooker Creek Park, east of Tarpon Springs, FL.
